NHKのバラエティー番組「夢であいましょう」の主題歌を歌い、映画「楢山節考」に主演した歌手で俳優の坂本スミ子（さかもと・すみこ、本名石井寿美子＝いしい・すみこ）さんが23日午前3時35分、脳梗塞のため熊本市の病院で死去した。84歳。大阪市出身。葬儀は近親者で行う。喪主は長女、聖子（せいこ）さん。
NHKの合唱団を経てラテン歌手としてデビュー。「夢であいましょう」に出演し、主題歌を歌って注目を集めた。
俳優としても才能を発揮し、83年にカンヌ国際映画祭で最高賞パルムドールに輝いた映画「楢山節考」（今村昌平監督）で、山に捨てられる老いた母を演じた。
